The Caputo Cup
Discover the Best Neapolitan & US Style Pizzas at the Caputo Cup Pizza Competition
This annual pizza-making competition sponsored by Antimo Caputo Flour was expanded in 2017 to four divisions: Traditional, Non-Traditional, Pizza Napoletana/STG and Gluten-Free. The 2017 competition at Pizza & Pasta Northeast featured more competitors for the fourth annual Caputo Cup USA. Antimo Caputo is known for its double zero flour and other products for pizza restaurants.
Pizza makers from throughout the U.S. will bake off in front of a panel of judges on both days of Pizza & Pasta Northeast — and event attendees will be invited to sit in and see how some of the best in the business prepare their pies. Winners of Traditional, Non-Traditional and Gluten-Free win $2,000 and a trophy; the Pizza Napoletana champion receives $3,000 and a trophy.
Competitors bring their own dough and ingredients and then assemble their pizzas in view of the audience. Registered attendees can observe their techniques and hear the contestants explain how they make and bake what the judges taste.

Northeast Pasta Showdown
Top Chefs in the Industry Compete in the Barilla Northeast Pasta Showdown
We’ll be crowning the chefs with the best pasta dishes in the region during our two-day Northeast Pasta Showdown, sponsored by Barilla.
On Wednesday, the competition area in the Exhibit Hall will feature contestants preparing their best recipes and presenting them to the judges. A prestigious panel of professional chefs with proficiency in Italian cuisine will judge the entries and name place winners. Participants will have 40 minutes for the preparation of their dishes, and dishes will be judged on their trueness to the Italian basic tenets of technique, presentation, flavor balance and taste.
On Thursday, each participating chef will be asked to prepare a pasta dish from a table of common ingredients, with one primary ingredient included that must be in all entries that go before the judges. This face-to-face showdown will test a competitor’s ability to stand out from the crowd on a level playing field.
Winners will be announced Thursday afternoon. The first-place winner receives $2,000 and a trophy; second- and third-place prizes are $500 and $250, respectively.
